Jeff Peters Interview
*********************
Michael Smith: Today I'm talking with Jeff Peters about the upcoming TeraTech
Fusebox 301H course, "Fast Track to Fusebox". Jeff, I understand you'll be
joining Hal Helms in teaching the upcoming course?

Jeff Peters: That's right, Michael. It's the first chance Hal and I have had
to "tag- team" in a couple of years. I'm really looking forward to it.

MS: Tell us a bit about the course.

JP: Sure. This is a 5-day in-depth exploration of Fusebox application
development. It covers the entire FLiP process from wireframing through
deployment, and a variety of related topics.

MS: What sort of related topics?

JP: We'll talk about things like dealing with unexpected situations during
front-end development, best practices in coding, and even more advanced topics
like using MVC with Fusebox.

MS: For the sake of clarity, what is MVC?

JP: Sorry about the acronym; it's force of habit. MVC stands for Model-View-
Controller, which is a design pattern. "Design pattern" is another bit of
jargon. It refers to a known solution to a particular problem. In this case,
the problem is organizing applications to aid in development and maintenance.
The MVC solution separates the application into three parts: the business model
(where the data is stored), the view (what the user sees), and the controller
(manages interaction between the model and view). Fusebox is a great framework
for MVC.

MS: I'm sure there are a lot of Fuseboxers who will be interested in that.
What else do they have to look forward to?

JP: There's a huge amount of material that we'll cover in class. It's hard to
know where to start talking about it. The course syllabus is on the
registration site, so that gives some more detail. I can't stress enough how
beneficial it is to spend a concentrated week learning Fusebox. At the end of
the week, students will have a set of skills that will allow them to be
immediately and enormously productive in their jobs. And I hope they'll look
forward to the chance to spend a week honing their Fusebox skills to a fine edge
with both Hal and me. I know I'm looking forward to it.

MS: Taking a break from writing books, eh?

JP: Well, yes and no. I'm almost always writing something, and I'm sure I'll
get more great ideas during the week. But I do enjoy teaching a great deal,
especially with students who are excited about the subject. And Fusebox tends
to have a very passionate community. It'll be a great week.

MS: Thanks for taking the time to talk with us.

JP: My pleasure, Michael. I'll see you in April.

MS: Yep, see you at the class!
