I like to read on paper because I find I get less headaches and distractions when I take a "book" and begin to read it. If I were just reading something for reference then that is not a big deal at all on a computer. If I am going to read 500 pages of text then it becomes a big deal. Guess it all boils down to what Ibuy the books for. For the WACK, if it were available digitally I would buy it, in printed form I do not feel I have a strong enough need for it to really purchase it and that boils down to I would use it for referencing not reading cover to cover.
As far as searching, since I have never really looked into eBooks, guess I just always assumed there was an easy interface for searching across multiple books all within one clean interface. I can not read things when riding on the train, is that me limiting my thinking process? I always thought it was that enormous headache and feeling I was going to vommit that kept me from doing it. :P On Fri, 25 Mar 2005 13:29:06 -0500, Rick Faircloth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > prefer it not be on a monitor screen but on paper > and printing out hundreds of pages > on my own printer does not sound like "fun". > > Still limiting your thinking to the "print" paradigm, > meaning reading from one source, pages in numbered > succession, and because of current presentation limitations, > preferring to read it printed on paper... > > > The searching is the only thing I would like about an eBook. > > What if you could search 50 references, including your own > homegrown sources on the same topic presented to you > all at once? > > A search across all materials on your system at once. > Isn't this what the Desktop Search craze is all about? > We just need to integrate purchased digital books into that mix.. > > Rick > > -----Original Message----- > From: Aaron Rouse [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Friday, March 25, 2005 11:48 AM > To: CF-Talk > Subject: Re: Ordering WACK from Amazon > > The searching is the only thing I would like about an eBook.
