I've never had this problem before, though it seems like I've done the same sort of thing in other applications. I have a form that contains two date fields. These date fields are optional. They can be left blank. It seems to me that the form should be able to be submitted to an update query with the date fields blank without a problem, just like a text field. But I'm getting a an ODBC error that basically says I'm trying to update with an invalid data type. As a temporary measure, I have a conditional checking for a blank field and then not running the SQL update for that field if blank. However, there needs to be a way to insert a NULL value into the date fields if the user wants those fields blank. I'm using Access2000 for the DB. Suggestions?
