Dude, settle down. If it's not a popular idea that's fine, but what's with
your tone? You'd think I slapped your sister or something.

My position is not that I can't spare the time to press delete, but that the
list would be more useful to all developers if there were a better way to
keep the irrelevant topics muted.

Great, so you wouldn't click the "this thread should go" link. But if a
whole lot of us don't agree with you on that or any other topic, it would be
ideal if the system were to allow a simple way to clean itself.

That's precisely the point. Since each thread is different, a general rule
will not do. This allows us to "manage it on our own" the first 10-15 times
we see a thread with the option, not the mandate, to have the system manage
it for us if enough of us want it gone.

And yes, if this thread had a "thread killer" link at the bottom, I would
click it at this point.

What if you... heaven forbid... just deleted the messages you didnt
want to read form your inbox? I think the CT thread is extremely
valuable. If you want to have the argument of "I'm so important, I
read soo many blogs / email everyday I cant spare the split second it
takes me to read the topic". Well my response is "Unsubscribe".

Honestly, if you dont want to read the message, don't read it, and
boot the thread form your inbox. Making general rules to boot threads
just will not work with the large audience. So manage it on your own.
