I have some similar process's that I use the CFX_ConsoleCommand to schedule
a job with AT, then my CF process end's and then AT process kicks off
shortly.
I think the latest version of CF has CFEXECUTE which I believe can call
other programs or batches....
hope it helps..

Subject: Spawning a background process?
Hello gurus,
I have a CF page that uploads a file, and then I need to do some LENGTHY
processing of the file (lots of parsing and breaking it into lots of little
files). Is there any way I can do the processing in the background, while my
user goes on his merry way? I have the Forta books as well as _Mastering
Cold Fusion_, but I must not be searching for the right keywords.
While I'm at it, when I'm building a file for output, is it better to build
it first in a variable (several steps, many concatenations) and do one file
write, or build it by appending to the file? (I assume the former, but my 2
MB input file is still timing out after 1500 seconds! There must be a better
way!)
Thanks very much,
Carol
