At a quick look, Chris' link points at a demo that does exactly what I'm
looking for.  I guess the main problem to deal with now is the performance
problems in a multi-user environment. (It's likely to be running on a server
with LOTS of users, and the lists will probably be pretty long (the total DB
will be at least 4,000 items, though most of the time people will be looking
at items that are in categories whcih will be subsets of that DB.
