You get more I/O with SCSI than you do with IDE, which is why the SCSI-based Western Digital Raptor SATA drives are still faster than IDE-based SATA drives.
You see SATA is based on SCSI and all the best SATA drives are based on a SCSI core. The high-end SATA drives, like the WD Raptors or the new SATA-300 drives will be faster than comparable IDE ones. -- Damien McKenna - Web Developer - [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Limu Company - http://www.thelimucompany.com/ - 407-804-1014 #include <stdjoke.h> > -----Original Message----- > From: Andy Ousterhout [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2005 4:36 PM > To: CF-Talk > Subject: RE: What hard drive would you buy? > > I was told by a few people that SCSI is fairly old technology and that > today's IDE is "better" as is SATA.
