Yes, once it was obvious that it was a network issue I tried everything I
could think of to get the two subnets talking easily. (but of course, that
would just make it two lans)

I'm not too worried about it since it�s a development server but it is
running some things I'd like to get back into the DMZ eventually.

But have you tried ping, tracert, or using IPs instead of hostnames to
get from the DMZ back to the network?
