I think there is more to it than lazieness it seems like a natural fit...not to mention you can achieve a higher degree of polymorphism this way than you could with even CFCs. Also have slgihtly tighter transaction control...just my thoughts.
As for the argument thats triggers make things hard to track down...thats a sign of bad documentation, or an incomplete understnading of a system.
