Dude! XML? Far from it. The stuff you see when you open a PDF in a text editor is a combination of commands for a stack-based virtual machine (� la PostScript), and a bunch of compressed datastreams. There's absolutely no reason whatsoever that PDFs can't be opened quickly, even on small machines. There's much faster software for reading PDFs out there than Acrobat Reader.
