I had the same problem with an ODBC datasource to an Oracle instance, connection was fine and most of the queries would run, but sometimes the same error occured as described. Then I changed the datasource in CF so that it directly connects to the database (using the Oracle JDBC driver and not Sequelink) and that fixed the problem.
