Jukka now has a tag based on ImageMagick called CFX_OpenImage that works pretty well. Not super-fast, but quality is great. Tag is free to use and has tons of capability. Jukka is very responsive, I was having a problem with thumbnail file sizes due to EXIF information and in a day he had revised the tag to support the command for removing it.
