I also did not see anything about problems with <cfqueryparam> in this document.

Unfortunately, Bryan's suggestion of placing the value in a simple variable and 
using that in the cfqueryparam also did not help.  I have checked and the error 
occurs whether I use a cfqueryparam or not.
