Mark, can you purge the entire site any only upload your Application.cfm and
one CFM page?  At this point I'd strip the site back to bare bare bones.

 I posted the whole file in the thread..application.cfm issue.. can't be a
codeing issue..
 tried this simple application.cfm file:
 <cfapplication name="BCNU199920012010">
 �<cfoutput>Hello world</cfoutput>
 �<cfset application.test = "This is a test">
 �</cfapplication>

 AND still nothing is picked up on any page..even when I used a cfinclude
template="application.cfm" on top of a cfm page!

Well I do have subfloders with application.cfm in them and they work as
expected and fine..but only one application.cfm file in the root..
 there has to be some issue/ conflict due to the shared hosting enviroment.
 My code works fine on my machine locally
