Large

IIRC it's possible to insert data into a SQL Server "text" column
(equivalent of CLOB) without using cfqueryparam -- Oracle isn't as
forgiving, although that may have more to do with drivers than with
Oracle per se.

Although generally speaking you should always use cfqueryparam. I'm
fortunate when I'm doing my own work that I've arranged my code in
such a fashion that I never need to write <cfquery> tags and so never
need to write out <cfqueryparam> tags either, since they're created
for me automagically.

I've run into problems in the past on some projects where there had
been a buggy implementation of cfqueryparam with a particular driver
(I remember one with Oracle in particular) which in my experience
generally results in the managers choosing not to use cfqueryparam
(bad choice) instead of choosing to update the drivers (good choice).
At my current 9-5 job my boss (the technical one) isn't sold on
cfqueryparam, although he doesn't berate anyone for using it, he just
turns his nose up... and although I hate to say it, we have worse
problems in our application currently.
