Yes I did know these things, and had checked them.  I've also double
checked them since you mentioned them.   I've set up my new SQLServer
exactly the same as my others, which all work, and this one doesn't.

I'm suspecting now it's a firewall issue rather than a problem with
the setup of SQLServer or CFMX.    I can set up datasources on
external servers so I am certain CFMX is set up correctly.

It's not a biggie, because I can run using the ODBC driver, and since
I'm the only one going to be using this server (it's the dev server on
my notebook) I dont have to worry about performance issues.  It's only
used so I can look at my own site's pages on my own dev machine.

I'll find the answer one day, but I'm not going to worry about it any
more for now. I was just wondering if we ever found out what Robert's
solution was.
