I don't know. Instead of a loon, he strikes me as a classic example of a troll. Nowadays, we categorize all sorts of wacky online arguments as trolling, but the original meaning was quite a bit more narrow, covering only carefully-crafted arguments that appeared to be sensible at first glance but were actually nonsensical (ex: "BSD is dying"). But yeah, either loon or troll. It's one thing to say that the core ideas of ..NET are based on those of Java, and quite another to say that the source code of .NET is derived directly from Java. Companies copy their competitors in this way all the time, and they don't need to licence each other's source code to do it. If there's one thing at which Microsoft excels, it's this.
