As a Flash dev since version 3, this is actually a very, very, very tiny step. I'm personally scared about a few things, but I'll wait to see how they turn out before I get ahead of myself. Lets just hope they *finally* make it a self-updating plugin...
If they want to really push Flash into a new realm, they should push for a more stream-lined way of creating applications that live in a browser and on a desktop. Sure the current version can somewhat do this, but real application functionality is lacking. Central has some potential, but the branding aspects and the limited upgrade in functionality aren't attractive enough to pull M$ junkies away. Features that work whether on or offline like a portable db (off) or web RDBS (on) could make flash the perfect tool for desktop to browser applications. If only I had 6 months to make it happen.... =] Cheers, Kevin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Davis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Talk" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, June 05, 2005 11:55 PM Subject: RE: flash platform >> -----Original Message----- >> From: dave [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] >> Sent: Monday, June 06, 2005 1:17 AM >> To: CF-Talk >> Subject: ot: flash platform >> >> whoa, wasn't expecting this! >> http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?cid=549C1 > > Honestly I've been expecting it for years. Flash would work very nicely indeed. ;^) > > Jim Davis > > > > > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:208644 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
