in your situation I would probably remove the connection limitations for the DSN. Do you have CFMX fully updated? We had some issues with 'maintain connections' set to yes and for our heavy DB based apps we still have it set to off. What you probably want to look at is your server log in CFAdmin. Look for long running request messages and focus on those pages for some tuning perhaps. Make sure you have 'log long running requests' set to yes. DK
