SQL Server 2000 DTS does not support direct import of XML docs. Maybe 2005
does??

Did you try SQL's DTS?

Also, look at tools from Embarcadero, Data Junction or Altova.

Anyone know of a good software tool to import very large (4GB) XML document
into SQL Server? Would like smart tool to make up for not-so-smart
developer.

BTW, tried ACCESS 2003 which has a very nice import facility for XML.
Unfortunately, it died around 464MB database file although specs say it will
do up to 2 GB.
