I support an internal web team for the Navy. The adopted standard for
corporate databases at this site is Oracle, but we have a bunch of little
access based web apps that we need to upsize rather quickly and upsizing to
Oracle is not an option due to development time. We have chosen to upsize
to SQL Server.

Now then, we already have Oracle 8i running on a server here. It only has 2
databases on it and is rather lightly used. The server is a dual processor
P3 with 1gb of RAM.

My question is... Can we put SQL Server on the same physical machine (with
Oracle 8i) without too much headache? There would eventually be a few dozen
small, lightly accessed Databases on SQL Server and perhaps another 2 or 3
more on Oracle.

Does anyone have any experience running this way? Our team operates much
like an ISP, but we are internal to the organization. Perhaps an ISP out
there has a setup similar to this scenario?
