I've also done that right from regedit at times. I would add the caution,
however, that moving registry settings from machine to machine may not
always behave the way you'd expect. Most of the time when I've done that it
has worked fine. Other times, though...

I'd strongly suggest backing up the registry on the new machine before
double clicking the magic .reg file.

hmmm. I restored CF settings on a new install for scheduled tasks, custom
tags, and ODBC etc, by creating an export file containing the registry
entries. I can't remember how I created the smaller.reg file, but if there
is not an export function in regedit, notepad works fine.

Worked pretty slick for me. copied file stru, and then double clicked the
smaller.reg files to make the appropriate registry entries.

Also, check your windows Directory for a file called ODBC.ini.  I've never
tried this, but perhaps if you copy that file to the new machine and reboot
all the datasources will be setup.
