Michael,

CFMX 6.1 the error message in the mail.log that seemed to cause the root
problem was:

"Error","jrpp-174","07/25/05","01:39:34",,"An exception occurred when
setting up mail server parameters. This exception was caused by:
coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler$SpoolLockTimeoutException: A timeout occurred
while waiting for the lock on the mail spool directory.."

Oddly enough, in the mailsent.log it would indicate the mail was
successfully sent.

Even stranger, is every morning for the past month or so, I've been getting
two similar failures starting around 1:29am and 1:38am:

"Error","scheduler-0","07/23/05","01:29:51",,"A problem occurred when
attempting to deliver mail. This exception was caused by:
coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler$SpoolLockTimeoutException: A timeout occurred
while waiting for the lock on the mail spool directory.."
"Error","scheduler-8","07/23/05","01:31:52",,"A problem occurred when
attempting to deliver mail. This exception was caused by:
coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler$SpoolLockTimeoutException: A timeout occurred
while waiting for the lock on the mail spool directory.."
"Error","scheduler-0","07/24/05","01:29:30",,"A problem occurred when
attempting to deliver mail. This exception was caused by:
coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler$SpoolLockTimeoutException: A timeout occurred
while waiting for the lock on the mail spool directory.."
"Error","scheduler-6","07/24/05","01:39:20",,"A problem occurred when
attempting to deliver mail. This exception was caused by:
coldfusion.mail.MailSpooler$SpoolLockTimeoutException: A timeout occurred
while waiting for the lock on the mail spool directory.."

I've yet to find anything on that specific message, but Macromedia's website
is returning a "Page Not Found" when using their knowledge base search.
