I don't know if the issues affect the Linux version also, but regarding ASP.NET you might take a look at Mono, it is an open source project trying to duplicate as much as possible from the .NET framework. We played with it in a staging environment, and it looked very good.

If only I could persuade our clients to pay the extra and have cfmx enterprise then I could just use cfmail to do it in one go instead of sending 100 messages every 2 minutes.
