Yes, I'm doing all that. I have access to both machines and checked id/pw.

Are you plugging in the username and password?  If not, that would explain
why it doesn't verify.  As far as I know, CF is going to verify the
datasource connectivity including the username/password info whereas Win
ODBC is just verifying the connection.

I can create an ODBC connection to a specific db on another machine using
Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator, but when I try through CF(5.0)
Admin, it fails to verify. Am I missing something obvious? Can I somehow use
the Windows connection?
