I would expect CreateObject("java","java.lang.Thread").sleep(x);
Try this:

<cfset wait(1000)>
#getTickCount()#
</cfoutput>
Granted, if it accepts an argument in seconds (instead of ms), then
you'd be looking at a wait of a little over 16 minutes.
