Yep. And it's good to understand how MySQL handles the difference between 
alpha, beta, and gamma (production) releases.

In brief, the release moves from alpha to beta when there is a 
feature-freeze. Then the product remains in beta until all known repeatable 
fatal bugs are handled. That means the beta is really long -- it's not like, 
for example, the Microsoft Vista Beta 1 :) 

Many people use the betas for live production code (though NOT the alphas). 
The label "beta" has a undesirable connotation to many people, so it's worth 
understanding how MySQL handles the word -- they're Swedish after all :) :)
