You really can't guarantee that... and it doesn't have to be a
"downgrade", it could be a move to Oracle or PostgreSQL. You don't
want to know how many times I've heard this story, or from how many
different people:

1) my boss (quit|died|transfered to another department|was demoted)

2) and they guy who replaced him decided that even though everything
had been running swimmingly on (ColdFusion|SQL Server|MySQL) for years


3) we weren't going to use it anymore -- all our projects and all our
clients were now going to use (Java|Oracle|SQL Server|.NET) whether
they (needed|liked) it or not because the new boss liked it
