no. WDDX serializes a complex object (such a query, array, struct) into a string representation (e.g. simple value) that can be stored in a database or text file (cookie).
If all you need is the value of LinkShareUID from the myQuery query, and there's just the 1 record returned... then all you need is: #myQuery.LinkShareUID# i think we got off on the WDDX tangent because it was assumed you needed to dump a query object into a cookie. But if that query object only holds one value, you can just reference that value via #queryname.columnName# On 10/7/05, Rob Redford <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Still requiring the use of WDDX, though? > > On 10/7/05, Charlie Griefer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > do you just need the value of LinkShareUID? > > > > if that's the case, then: > > > > <cfcookie name="myCookie" value="#idQuery.linkShareUID#"> > > > > On 10/7/05, Bryan Stevenson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > you'll see the error of yer ways in my previous reply....query names with > > > poiund signs as they are variables etc.....just the syntax messing you up. > > > > > > Cheers > > > > > > Bryan Stevenson B.Comm. > > > VP & Director of E-Commerce Development > > > Electric Edge Systems Group Inc. > > > phone: 250.480.0642 > > > fax: 250.480.1264 > > > cell: 250.920.8830 > > > e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > web: www.electricedgesystems.com > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > > From: "Rob Redford" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > > To: "CF-Talk" <[email protected]> > > > Sent: Friday, October 07, 2005 11:41 AM > > > Subject: Re: How Do I Get The Results of This Query Into a Cookie? > > > > > > > > > >I tried this and it doesn't work, but am I even on the right track? > > > > > > > > <cfquery datasource="um" name="idQuery"> > > > > BEGIN TRANSACTION > > > > UPDATE LinkShareMaxID SET LinkShareUID = LinkShareUID + 1 > > > > SELECT LinkShareUID FROM LinkShareMaxID > > > > COMMIT TRANSACTION > > > > </cfquery> > > > > > > > > <cfwddx action="cfml2wddx" input="idQuery" output="idQuerySerialized"> > > > > <cfwddx action="wddx2cfml" input="idQuerySerialized" output="MaxID"> > > > > > > > > <cfcookie name="LinkShareUID" value="#MaxID#" expires="never"> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Logware (www.logware.us): a new and convenient web-based time tracking application.
