Jim, >I'm not sure if anybody actually manages the site at all anymore. But if >so it would probably be Nate or Sim.
Yeah, I wonder if either of them is monitoring the site. Neither is as involved with the community as they used to be. I know Sim made the changes to the last version of the WDDX.js file, so I'm surprised they never updated the WDDX core files. They really ought to at least get the latest version of the file posted to OpenWDDX.org. >In AJAX-style applications it's often simpler to just pass XML back and >forth (to pass "raw" JS you need to have a container to run that script in >something like a hidden frame or such). Well, in the past I've used WDDX in conjunction with hidden form fields to post to a hidden frame to provide real-time feedback. This technique is extremely browser friendly, although not nearly as elegant as real AJAX techniques. >Of course not many people are working on "real" AJAX applications - I've >only done one and that's actually an HTA application for intranet use. Typically I only use AJAX techniques for backend administration functions and/or Intranet applications--essentially only when I have a lot of control over the browser/client requirements. Fortunately, we're finally getting to the point where most people have upgraded to some kind of modern browser. That's really why there's so much AJAX buzz. We're finally getting to a point where we can start implementing interfaces that were generally restricted to controlled environments. -Dan ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Logware (www.logware.us): a new and convenient web-based time tracking application.
