COM objects.  It's been several years, but we created VB-based COM
wrappers that consumed the SAP-generated COM objects to connect with
ColdFusion.  However, we didn't do much with it because the mgt, at the
time, were very Microsoft-ish.

There used to be a company called Backsoft that made a product
"BackTalk".  I'm not sure if they are still around, however.  You might
google them.
