Since you need an account username and password for cfpop to be able to do its job, the answer would be yes assuming that info is unavailable. Of the previous people who responded on this list, Paul Vernon sells an inexpensive and very much more robust CFPOP replacement (you'll know why you need it if you get really serious about large-scale CFPOP usage). Howie Hamlin sells a replacement mail server that can be configured to provide bounce information to ColdFusion.
