I always try starting the mysql server from the command line before
installing the service to make sure everything is working. If it's
not, you'll get much better error diagnostics.

If you can start it from the command line and the service doesn't
work, you may have a problem with the location of your my.cfn/my.ini
file being found (should be in the mysql error file).
