Subject: installing coldfusion 7

I'm planning to install CF 7 pro on our production server. We have not
purchased it yet, but it's underway. Meanwhile I want to be able to set up
and test the configuration.

Now, if I install trial or developer, that will install the Enterprise
edition, right?

[bf] Correct.

I want just the Pro features. Is there a way to specify that, or do I need
to get a bootleg CF7 serial in the meanwhile?

[bf] No, there isn't. But there are very few features (at the language
level) that are Enterprise only, should nto be a big deal.

[rs] Yes, the problem is not language level, but server level. For example
Pro doesn't support multiple server configuration (JRUN configuration).
However, this is an option for both trial and developer installs. So later
on, when I'm ready to go live, I won't be able to just put in the serial and
make it CF7 Pro, I would have to reinstall it again, unless I knew that CF 7
Pro only supports single server configuration.

Also will CF 7 Pro support having 2 separate servers for apache and for CF?

[bf] CF Professional will only allow you to install a single CF instance per
machine. CF Enterprise (as well as Developer and Trial) support multiple
instances.
[rs] What I mean is not multiple instances, but having Apache on 1 physical
server, and CF on another physical server. I believe it does work, as I've
gotten it partially to work, but I need more help on that... but that shall
be another post.
