As an FYI I ended up using this tag

http://www.electricsheep.co.nz/products/customtags/view.cfm?&name=cf_cache

And it has worked perfectly.

Subject: CFCACHE

If I have a page with 5 includes lets say and I use CFCACHE on one include
will it attempt to cache all the stuff below it or just that one include
file?

To let you know what I am doing in a header file we have to CFHTTP to
another site to pull some content that a client is always changing. We just
want to do that once every x hours.

I figure I can always CFHTTP, Write the file and then load that file.
