To be blunt, I'm not sure you have a lot of ammo. It seems to me that so far -- other than anecdotes about development speed or observations on how nice the code looks -- your basic argument is simply "I know CF, so we need to rewrite our entire site in CF". Another way to say it is that you're suggesting rewriting the entire storefront and migrating to a new deployment platform instead of you learning a new (and very similar to CF) scripting language. If you're rewriting from scratch, Ruby on Rails source looks far cleaner than PHP or Java or *ColdFusion* and Rails sites tend to be done much faster than equivalent (fill-in-technology-here) sites. While I have no specific love for MIVA, it's been around for a long time, there are many hosts for it, and there are a lot of developers who've worked with it. I'd take that, warts and all, over untested, written here code. I can't speak to the CF-based web store software. The real issue, casting no stones at either side, seems to be an impedence mismatch between the skillset you've got and the skillset your boss wants. From an employer perspective, I'd be expecting you to learn the platform or looking for someone new. -- John Paul Ashenfelter CTO/Transitionpoint (blog) http://www.ashenfelter.com (email) [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:227643 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.4 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
