It happens in very large companies all the time.  I'd hate to know how much
is spent here just in trying to track what software packages are loaded onto
computers.  All sorts of big brother packages are running to scan peoples
machines and log the information and I would still bet anything that there
is a ton of incorrectly licensed software packages out there.  This is a
huge problem for many companies both small and large.  After all how can you
know that the copy of Photoshop that Bob is running is not a illegal copy vs
something he bought at CompUSA and just loaded at work vs bought through the
proper channels(vendor system at work).
