I think MACR labeled the downloads like this to reduce confusion.  I
guess their plan didn't work as it is still confusing.

Anytime you install CF w/o a key, it is considered a "trial" version.
If, after 30 days, you still do not enter a key, it reverts to a
"developer" version.  Both of these installs are based on CF Enterprise
with all of the capabilities of Enterprise, with the exception of a few
restrictions.

If you enter a key, CF will then conform itself to the product level
based on the key.   Enter a CF Standard key and CF will become the
standard level.  Enter the CF Enterprise key and CF will become the
enterprise level.

Wouldn't that therefore make it exactly the same as the trial edition?
In which case why have two different versions to download.

if you enter a valid license key into the Developer edition it will
upgrade to either Standard or Enterprise (depending on your key).
