Points well taken. A couple of things though. I did not mention this
originally. he does want to make EVERYONE register throught the website
(those that don't hve computers will be entered by a customer service rep
through the system anyway over the phone), so the only way to secure a spot
is with a credit card BUT and its a big BUT, he wants to give an option to
those preferring to pay fully with cash or check to do it at the time of
trip. Hence why I thought a preauth that went away but leaving the card
number on the processing system to charge upon a no show was the way to go.
Also, mailing out refunds would be more work than just charging a card when
it takes place.
