Hello,
I recently uploaded my content to a host server and am getting
page timeouts (> 40 seconds) when I visit my home page. This
doesnt happen when testing locally (times are < .5 sec) and it
doesnt happen always, but has happened several times for several
different people with high speed connections. I tested the site using
webpartner.com and that site timed out on its first access as well
but subsequent tries were fast.
The support person for the site said that the first time after new
content is uploaded will be slow because the caches need to load
up with the new content. My question is: Is timing out normal
behavior before the cache is loaded? And if so does this mean this
will happen on server restarts as well? It seems to me even without
the cache loaded, the site should still load with times comparable
to other sites.
ps - We chose the hosting company specifically for its high speed
access.
Thanks,
bruce.
