Subject: My Politics

So, Larry laid out his beliefs, and I figured I would try and do the same.

Overall Beliefs

Politics and policies must be guided by reason. Compassion and altruism
have no place in this sphere.

Domestic Policy

Do as you will so long as you harm none. I know it sounds campy but it's
really what I believe. I don't care what you do with your body or your
property, so long as it doesn't impact anyone else. At state level I pretty
much feel that the government can do anything allowed to it by it's
constitution. At federal level I feel that we should pretty much only have
enough government to deal with immigration and defense.

Foreign Policy

Nations have no friends, only interests. The security of our sovereign
nation is more important than any "global" or international law. It is
better to be non-intrusive than to be over intrusive, however becoming
involved internationally is unavoidable in the new global economy. As far
as international trade, I support truly fair trade. As such I would like to
see us directly match each and every countries tariffs, taxes and subsidies.
I think this will allow us to compete internationally, and begin bringing us
back to a level playing ground.

One thing I just thought about. I have never heard of a political theory or
party that could be summed up so easily.

I would really like to see a third party come along that could really push
states rights vs. strong centralized government. I don't think that the
libertarian party will ever succeed in this country. They have too bad of a
reputation, and they still have a lot of much more extreme members.

I feel that a states rights based system could easily bring together the
left and the right in this country. NY, California, Oregon and other left
leaning states could have all the social programs they wanted, while states
like Texas and Montana could have as little government as they wanted, yet
we could all band together for defense and economic success. I think that
would be amazing.
