First, this <cfinput> is inside of a <cfform> and not just a <form> tag, otherwise, the 'required' attribute will not take affect.
I always use cfform, so that's okay. Second, you may need to trim(SESSION.User.INSTITUT) the session variable before dropping into the 'value' attribute. I'll try this and see if it helps. It has been initialized to "" but perhaps something has happened that I'm not seeing.
