Have you tried checking the 'Maintain Connections' check box for this data source in the CF Administrator? I believe the CF7 drivers are from DataDirect. Have you tried their support forums for help with your error message? We have CFMX 6.1 running against DB2 on z/OS using IBM's JDBC Type 2 drivers (mandated by our DB2 folks). It took some doing with lots of help from IBM to get them working, but the DB2 JDBC Type 4 drivers supplied with CF worked right out of the box.
