Hmmm. I have 1GB RAM and have not seen the grayed-out problem. I have also opened Flash 8 and FW 8 at the same time just to see the memory usage. However, I didn't really do any work that would have sucked up more memory.
It is a RAM pig, I can say that. I have been using TopStyle frequently just to play with it again. On opening, it only takes < 4MB of memory. After a few files, it gets between 10-20MB. Not too bad.
