DW8 FTP is horrible. I use it all of the time and although it is very convenient it is, at the same time, horribly slow. I mainly deal with Windows servers so I never thought of it being a windows vs linux thing but DW needs an ftp overhaul. Maybe they should buy filezilla or WSFTP and integrate it.
