Could it be that Firefox cached your application page and so is giving you a "false positive", giving the impression that session variables are still set? Try clearing your cache in Firefox and see if it still appears to hold the session variables. If not then you know something is up with the CF configuration that is causing the session variables to be lost. If there's still the difference between FF and IE then something really screwy is going on.
