Primarily because ajaxCFC is being actively developed. CFAJAX has numerous problems, functionally and at least one major security flaw which was reported months ago but no changes have been made by the developer. Although I haven't personally tried it, ajaxCFC works with Bluedragon, while CFAJAX doesn't (without modification).
