I have some experience with sparkplug - but not yet in production, just playing with concepts for a client.
The advantage is that it is very simple in concept so you will be up and running fast. Longer term it will limit what you can do more than Farcry. For me the simplicity is a great attraction; if I really needed to add some further features to sparkplug I could tinker with the code without much of a learning curve to get through. I see CMS systems a bit like video recorders used to be, when choosing the model you wanted you could get seduced by the range and complexity of the features available, but after you own your VCR for a year you will have settled down to using just a relevant subset of those functions. For me sparkplug is equivalent to a VCR with a record and a play button, but simple enough so I can add on more complex features if the client really needs them down the line. Remember this opinion is before I go into production or even serious development .......
