FYI, the new CF Eclipse plugins (for use with FlexBuilder 2) use RDS and generate both ActiveRecord and DAO-style CFC's for virtually any CF-registered DB datasource.
The resulting CFC code can be used independantly of the front end, although we generate the full Flex 2 front end app for you as well. But you can just as easily use the backend CFC's and write your CFML/HTML app as usual. Available on labs, and all you need is Eclipse installed.
