on bobguiney.com I have always "approved" guestbook entries but I still hated dealing with tons and tons of obnoxious spambot entries on a daily basis. so I added a form field that said: "Please type Bob's last name: " and then I validated the input on the server side. I haven't gotten a single spambot entry since then.
